A modest photographer with a great eye, San Francisco resident Liz Caruana is the long-standing photographer for our Nooworks catalogs. In addition to being a successful fashion photographer, Liz is also a complete pleasure to work with. Continuously creating wonderful work for us, Liz has braved the harshest of San Francisco’s summer climate during Nooworks photo shoots. (It seems we always choose the wildest of weather days to shoot!) On our most recent shoot with Liz, there was a harsh summer chill and relentless winds, yet despite such trying weather, Liz finished out the day with incredible photos. In addition to the her professional photography, Liz keeps up a personal tumblr account in which she offers photos from a current personal project called, “morning walks”, which is a compilation of daily photographs that are humble, yet expressive enough to evoke feelings in the viewer. We think it’s a great feat that Liz shows her impressive technical ability and eye for fashion photography through her professional site, and offers a glimpse into what drives her passion through her tumblr account. Last year we lost one sweet lady from San Francisco to her love in Boston and the metal ladies of SF mourned this loss.

We are getting ready to launch our winter 2011 line and you will soon be seeing all the amazing photos we took this summer when it was even colder than it is now. So many people worked their asses off to make this happen we just want to know how much we love you all!

Oh we had such an amazing visit from Sarah this summer!!

After giving us the coolest patterns to make the Fall 2011 line magical she flew in from New York City to hang her fabulous water colors, line drawings and one of a kind screen prints.

Then to make our space even cooler she painted the windows with her tribal style frames and then the night before the opening whipped out an amazing mural freehand on the wall!!!

Nooworks is proud to announce our latest show featuring the art of New York based multimedia artist Sarah Mead. Sarah’s work ranges from illustration, to design, to silkscreen prints, with all of her work exhibiting a theme of bold graphics, which frequently represent typography and geometric forms. Her work will be showing at Nooworks Shop beginning August 6 and running until October 6. Nooworks will hold the opening on August 6 from 5pm-9pm, providing music, as well as kegs sponsored by Pyramid brewery.

Exhibition “I Will Always” is the latest project by artist and Urban Inks founder Sarah Mead; it is tribally influenced with an emphasis on African Tribal symbols, while still holding true to her artistic roots with typography and geometric forms. With permanent installations at The SFMoMa and MODA, Sarah will be releasing her first solo exhibition at Nooworks Shop. With respect and concern to the current drought in Africa, Sarah will be fundraising with the sale of limited edition tote bags with all proceeds going directly to help drought victims.

The power of bikes continues! At Nooworks we love bikes and we love illustrators, so when Dr Sketchy’s asked Gwen to outfit some models for one of their live drawing events here in SF we were psyched. This anti art school drawing movement takes place in cities all over North America so make sure to see if there’s one in your town. These are my faves!

OMG! Our first celebrity sighting at Nooworks and we are super
PUMPED!!! Ricky Lee Jones was hanging in San Francisco and apparently loves Nooworks! Ricky and her pal had a fun afternoon shopping where she got so attached to the outfit Gwen picked for her she even wanted the sample shoes to wear while playing in Tel Aviv playing with Bob Dylan. You guessed it, we said yes.
