June 03 2012 – Jen D'Angelo
If you have spent any time around 16th and Valencia chances are you've exchanged smiles with Omar Gonzales. The 29 year old from Fresno, California works at Four Barrel, Interns at Benny Gold and lives above Nooworks. When we opened our doors he was one of the first people that came in cold calling about an art show and I have to confess I was a little skeptical. But a few days later when he returned with some samples I was blown away! Omar's illustrations are at the same time extremely precise and fluid. Choosing to work primarily in prismacolor pencils and copic multiliners on Bristol board he is able to fill his line work with beautiful colors and shading. When asked Omar describes his work as a sort of "personal therapy" and with images combining flowers, monsters and eyeballs he seems to be working it out.
Please join us for his debut Saturday June 23rd from 5-9 at Nooworks where we will also be launching new textiles, tees and more featuring this fabulous fellow.
