Each bag is thoughtfully curated and sewn by my neighbor Carol. She names each one based off of their different characteristics.
No two are alike.
About 23" wide and 15" tall with an interior and exterior pocket.
Welcome to your new all-purpose tote bag!
I started making these bags when I found some denim scraps in my mom's fabric stash. She was deep into Alzheimer's, so it felt right to extrapolate on her project idea. I patched and pieced and made myself a tote, which received many glowing compliments. When I found myself accumulating more denim scraps and stained and irreparably damaged jeans, I decided to make more totes. It is a labor of love. Disassembling jeans, arranging pieces, sourcing and selecting rescued fabrics for the interiors and embellishments — it's all a giant upcycle art project.
Any proceeds from this project go toward my daughter's college tuition. So it goes - and idea from my mother, a project for me, an education for my girl. Turning grief into promise.
I encourage you to use your bag for any and everything. Big enough to carry laundry, strong enough to carry books, cute enough to carry anywhere.
Care: Machine washable, unless otherwise stated. Cold, gentle cycle. If any fraying or damage occurs to your bag over time, I encourage you to mend it! Mending will add character and is in line with the upcycled ethos of my work. Mending is resistance.
Thanks for reading!
