meet the artist: Anisa Makhoul

I’m an award-winning painter, printmaker, illustrator, and author who communicates beauty and meaning in a way that feels fresh, smart, and culturally aware. My work is rooted in activism and shaped by a deep commitment to collective memory, justice, and emotional truth. Using layered symbolism, bold storytelling, and visual language that speaks across communities, I create work that invites connection and sparks recognition. Whether through image or text, my practice centers on giving form to what’s often unspoken—but urgently felt.
